Waterjet Cutting Media
Waterjet cutting technology is one of the fastest growing machine tool processes in the world, due to its versatility. There are virtually no limits to what waterjets are capable of cutting or machining.
Waterjet cutting is performed by a waterjet machine. In this process, it uses a mixture of water and abrasives to more effectively cut through materials. Adding abrasives to the high-pressure water stream enhances the cutting capability and the abrasive waterjet can cut through steel.
The abrasive choice is important. Since the invention of waterjet cutting, it has been proven that Garnet is the best choice. Garnet is hard and when it fractures, it forms sharp edges. Both of these qualities are advantages in waterjet machining. Garnet is also relatively chemically inert and won't react with the materials being cut, making its disposal simpler as well.
Garnet used for waterjet machining is either Alluvial or Hard Rock mined. Alluvial Garnet comes from river beds. Hard Rock is mined from rocks and requires crushing. All our Garnet abrasives are processed by means of fresh water washing, crushing, screening and magnetic separation.
